Greetings WWIA Families,

Here are a few important reminders as we head into Week 7 of the school year:

  • Evacuation Drill is scheduled for Thursday, October 9, 2025.

Please see the attached communication: Dear Families,

As part of our commitment to school safety and in compliance with state law, all students and staff will participate in regular safety drills throughout the year. These drills help ensure everyone knows what to do in an emergency.

Each school will conduct five fire drills, three safety drills, and two tornado drills annually. We will also practice an evacuation drill in the coming weeks as part of our ALICE safety training. Evacuation procedures may be used in response to severe weather, a building issue, or a security threat.

Thank you for your support and understanding.

Wayne-Westland Innovative Academy will practice our evacuation drill on Thursday, October 9, 2025, in the morning. If it is raining, another day will be planned.

  • Students and staff will evacuate to our designated site. This is an important part of keeping everyone safe.

NEWSLETTER: Wayne-Westland Innovative Academy - September 15, 2025

September 8, 2025
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

As we begin Week Three of the school year, we want to thank you for helping us get off to a strong start. Establishing positive routines early is key to ensuring success throughout the year.

We want to highlight three important expectations that directly impact student success:

  1. On-Time Attendance – Being present and on time to every class is essential. Arriving late or missing class causes students to fall behind and interrupts the learning environment. Consistent, on-time attendance sets the foundation for academic achievement.

  2. Passing All Assigned Classes – Every class matters. Students are expected to complete all assignments, actively participate, and seek support when needed. Our goal is for every student to stay on track for promotion and graduation.

  3. Being in the Assigned Area – For safety and accountability, students must remain in their scheduled classes and designated areas during the school day. This ensures a secure environment where all students can focus on learning.

Important Upcoming Dates – NWEA Testing (In-Person):

  • Tuesday, September 16 – Reading

  • Thursday, September 18 – Math

We will follow our modified schedule for these testing days.

Parents/Guardians, we ask for your support in reinforcing these expectations at home. Students, we encourage you to take pride in meeting these standards and to reach out to your teachers or support staff if you need assistance.

NEWSLETTER: Wayne-Westland Innovative Academy - September 8, 2025

September 2, 2025
Dear Students and Families,

As we move into the second week of the school year, we want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of attendance, timeliness, and academic focus.

Arriving On Time Matters
Being on time to school and to every class sets the tone for learning. Arriving late not only disrupts instruction but also creates gaps in learning. Please make it a priority to be on time each day and move promptly to your assigned classes.
