What an amazing start to the school year! Our students have already shown us that it is going to be a great year! I am seeing great STAR behavior with students showing that they know the expectations at school, are enjoying building relationships, making new friends and ready for a great year of learning. Attached is an important letter from Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy reminding families that any student who makes a threat of violence toward their school or district - whether intended as a prank or not - may face serious legal consequences. Under Michigan law, it is a crime to make a threat against a school or district, even if the person had no intent or capability to carry it out. 

Wayne-Westland Community Schools takes all threats seriously and will work closely with law enforcement to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.

We encourage you to talk with your children about their online presence, digital responsibility, and the seriousness of making any threat.
