The safety of our students and school communities is always our top priority. One important way to help keep children and teens safe is by practicing safe firearm storage. To help protect Michigan families-especially children-from firearm-related tragedies, a state law requiring secure storage of firearms went into effect on February 13, 2024.

Want to come and have a Ghoulishly Good Time with Us?
Wayne-Westland Community Schools is hosting its 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat event on Wednesday, October 15, in the parking lot behind our Administration office.
EVENT DETAILS:
Time: 5:00 - 6:30 pm
Location: Board of Education Courtyard
Address: 36745 Marquette, Westland

Dear Wayne-Westland Families,
Attached is an important letter from Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy reminding families that any student who makes a threat of violence toward their school or district - whether intended as a prank or not - may face serious legal consequences. Under Michigan law, it is a crime to make a threat against a school or district, even if the person had no intent or capability to carry it out.
Wayne-Westland Community Schools takes all threats seriously and will work closely with law enforcement to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.
We encourage you to talk with your children about their online presence, digital responsibility, and the seriousness of making any threat.
