Wayne-Westland Community Schools is committed to educating, empowering, and inspiring every student to reach their full potential. Serving 9,400 students across Westland, Wayne, Canton, Dearborn Heights, Inkster, and Romulus, our district provides a high-quality educational experience grounded in excellence, equity, and opportunity. Our district is dedicated to preparing students for success—today and into the future.
From our Early Childhood Center, serving children from birth to age five, to 10 elementary schools, three middle schools, and two comprehensive high schools, Wayne-Westland offers a full continuum of learning. Families can also choose from innovative options, including our Virtual Academy (6-12 grade), Innovative Academy (9-12 grade), and an ultra-modern Career-Technical Center (11-12 grade) designed to prepare students for college, careers, and life beyond graduation.
Guided by our mission, Wayne-Westland Community Schools maintains high expectations for all learners while fostering safe, caring, and inclusive environments. Every student deserves the support, challenge, and encouragement needed to develop strong character, confidence, and the skills required to succeed in a diverse, global society.
Student-centered learning is at the core of everything we do. Our district offers Young 5s for kindergarten-eligible students, K–8 STEM labs that promote hands-on exploration and problem-solving, and advanced learning opportunities for students in grades 6–12. Middle school students may earn high school credit, while high school students can take Advanced Placement courses and earn direct college credit at no cost to families.
For students seeking flexibility, our Virtual Academy provides an online learning option.
At the heart of career readiness is our award-winning Career-Technical Center, offering 21 hands-on programs aligned to in-demand careers, including Automotive Technology, Emergency Medical Technician, Firefighting, Health Occupations, Game Design and Programming, Construction Technology, Culinary Arts, Law and Public Safety, HVAC and Sports Medicine and Exercise Science.
